The best thing about working out and training for a particular event is having a great partner in crime to help motivate you to get out there. I give a lot of credit to EH in helping me to do this. If she was not there to meet me at the track or the gym, I would probably be at home watching the tube. It is great that after our workouts I am so tired that I do not have really any time to do that. We help motivate each other!!

It has not been easy for me as I realize that we are not 18 or 29 any more and my body aches all over. Yesterday was hard as my sciatica was bothering me all day at work and after my run. It took some time to stretch it out but it did not go away until after I went to bed. I think I need to really stretch out before and after my workouts/runs. I do not think that I will ever get to pain free state but like they say “No Pain, No Gain!!”

I was not able to train yesterday 06/30 due to a fun summer cold. I really like being all plugged up or runny nosed on a hot summer day. I know that it is not allergies. I took the day off to rest. Truly, I did nothing. After training on 06/28 and the shore run on 06/29, I thought I should rest for the day. I will be back today for my run or walk. I just need to get out there no matter what.

Both myself and sister-in-law Heidi ran/walked the 5k Shore Run (from Leschi to Madison Park) on June 29. It was about 80 degrees by 8am. I was able to run for a short while but then I over heated. It was way too hot for me. We did make good time (I think) 45 minutes. I was a little disappointed in myself that I could not run more of the race but that will come in time. Training is essential!! I will do it next time.

Ran/walked the track at the Lynnwood HS.  Completed 2miles (or 8x around the track) in 45 minutes.  My heart rate was initially high but settled down to about approx. 130.  I was a little sore yesterday around my hips - may need to stretch a little bit more after the run.  Boy, I really need to increase my endurance.  It is going to take some time to work up to the 13 miles for the marathon this fall.  I know I will get there.
