Beautiful trail - but a little confusing on the mile markers. I think we only saw one 1/2 mile marker and that was it. My left knee again gave me more trouble and I did more walking than running on an average. I think we can guestimate again that we ran 1.5 mile out and back

It sprinkled most of the time but overall it was generally wet all around. I did well but again my left knee began to hurt on the 2nd time around the outer trail. I am thinking that it may be my running shoes (but will confirm this with Everyday Athlete - may need a new pair of shoes??). I think I did an average of 7 miles that day (just guestimating) I bought a GPS this week and will be able to confirm the actual and total miles ran.

The temperature is defintely changing here in Seattle. I wore running shorts thinking that I would warm up which I did. But once my run was over, I was very cold. Last day for running with shorts for me!!! LOL!!

We ran the inside circle of the lake (approx 5.8 miles) great run but then my left knee kept botherimg me towards the final couple of miles. I started to favor my right leg more and limped my way to the end. I was so sore for the rest of the day. Not sure if I did something to it or it may be my shoes. It actually started to bother me at the Irogirl race. But I have to keep pushing and moving along. I may need to get my shoes check - as it may be time for some new shoes before the Seattle Half Marathon on 11/30/08. Only 72 days away!! Yikes!! Not sure if I am totally ready but I have to make sure that my shoes are comfortable and my knee is strong otherwise it will be a grueling 13.1 miles!!

WOW!!! I completed the race. It was definitely challenging but I did it. The first 3 miles was great but I felt it more on the 2nd 3 miles my left knee started to hurt. It also started to get warmer and that did effect me. I stopped and walked more than I wanted to but I still made some good time. I still have a long way to go but this is just one of the many races and challenges that I will experience in my life time!!

I was out of town on 08/28-08/29/08 which did not help my training as I did not run much that week. Then the week of 09/01-09/05 - because of the holiday I do not think I did much running. Running

Love it when it is a little bit overcast. It was not as hot as it has been the last couple of weeks. I was able to push myself a little bit more. I had to estimate the mileage.

It was really hot even at 7:30am. By 8:30-9 am it was about 80 degrees. It was a little difficult with the dry heat and dust but at least I was out there.

Running

Burke Gilman trail was brimming with cyclist every where you go. I love the trail. It was a hot, hot day - 85 degrees. It was really hard to concentrate on my run. It was too hot and my throat was dry which made it very difficult. Ran for time and not mileage. 20 minutes in and out with a total of 3.6 miles.

Instead of the track today, I went on a new running trail. My first time really running by myself. I did not track the mileage until after my run the next day. It came out to be about 3.3 miles. It was extremely hot that day and should have had water. I really need to get a water bottle holder to carry on my runs. It would help a lot on the very hot days.

Running

Yeah!! No track today…we went down to the Burke-Gilman Trail starting at the Log Boom Park in Kenmore. There were no mile markers so I am not sure about the mileage (its just an estimate on my distance) We tried to get as far as we can in 15 minutes (total 30 minutes back and forth) Plus, it was not a hot day and the run felt really good. New adventure!! There were also alot of bikers there and made me want to jump on a bike and ride away into the sunset. However, I do not have one to ride..Darn!! Next time….

Walked around the track 2x (15-20 min) warm up. Then ran 2 miles (8x) around the track (40 min). I can now run half a mile (2x) around the track without stopping. My goal is to run one mile without stopping to rest. Almost there!!

Third week for run training - 2.5 miles this week. Thought I did pretty well. It seemed to go a lot faster than running on the track. It did get really hot that day about 83 degrees. Need to stretch a lot more after the run…my body was very sore a hour later. I did a little bit more stretching when I got home.

Another beautiful day in Washington!! It must have been about 84 degrees at about 5pm. It was just a little too hot to run but did it anyways. Good run around the track! By the last run around the track, it was too hot!! Drank lots of water!! Need to really increase my endurance and speed. My goal is to run a mile in 10 minutes. Still having slight pain in my knees when I first begin my runs. It feels like it wants to give in. It starts to gradually decrease once my body warms up. I am afraid that my quads are not strong enough at this time and will need to also include some weight training with my training. After our run, Erinn and I went to Super Supplements and bought a few goodies (protein bars and powder). Do not have much of an appetite after my runs, so I thought a protein shake will suffice any of my hunger pains. Tomorrow will be at the gym for some strength and weight training.

I am just beginning to take running serious. I plan to participate in the half marathon in Seattle this year 2008. This will be a good year.
