Ok, so I have been slacking just a little. After finding out that I was pregnant last March, I put a halt on running. It was due to fear as a new mother-to-be. I did a little bit of pre-natal yoga and walking.

Now a year later and a proud mother of a beautiful 5 month old baby boy, James, it is time to get back into grind of things. On 01/16/10, I started back into running with E and Running Evolution, a women’s running group. I thought I was just easing back into running but ended up running 4 miles that day. What a way to get back into it!! Boy, I was sore from my lower back into my hips. My running coach stated that you will continue to have this pain due to nursing and all the pregnancy hormones in your body. Well, I guess, so be it.

I made sure that I also bought a running stroller as I knew and anticipated to take James on some runs. It would be good for him to get out with Mom. We have to wait until he is about 6 months (for neck muscles to be stronger) in order to really get him out running with me but doing it slowly but surely. Just one more month and here we go.

I am not sure if I will be doing the Seattle Half Marathon this year but I am going to train like I am. I want to get my pre-pregnancy body back as everything has shifted. Plus, I want to be back in shape in order to keep up with my little one. It will be no time that I will be running around after him.

So here is to 2010 - Train, run, train and run!! My motivation at this time is to make sure that I am in good health not just for myself but for my family. I want to live a long and healthy life so that I can see my son grow up to be a man and to love my husband with everything that I have.

Beautiful trail - but a little confusing on the mile markers. I think we only saw one 1/2 mile marker and that was it. My left knee again gave me more trouble and I did more walking than running on an average. I think we can guestimate again that we ran 1.5 mile out and back

It sprinkled most of the time but overall it was generally wet all around. I did well but again my left knee began to hurt on the 2nd time around the outer trail. I am thinking that it may be my running shoes (but will confirm this with Everyday Athlete - may need a new pair of shoes??). I think I did an average of 7 miles that day (just guestimating) I bought a GPS this week and will be able to confirm the actual and total miles ran.

The temperature is defintely changing here in Seattle. I wore running shorts thinking that I would warm up which I did. But once my run was over, I was very cold. Last day for running with shorts for me!!! LOL!!

We ran the inside circle of the lake (approx 5.8 miles) great run but then my left knee kept botherimg me towards the final couple of miles. I started to favor my right leg more and limped my way to the end. I was so sore for the rest of the day. Not sure if I did something to it or it may be my shoes. It actually started to bother me at the Irogirl race. But I have to keep pushing and moving along. I may need to get my shoes check - as it may be time for some new shoes before the Seattle Half Marathon on 11/30/08. Only 72 days away!! Yikes!! Not sure if I am totally ready but I have to make sure that my shoes are comfortable and my knee is strong otherwise it will be a grueling 13.1 miles!!
